Remember my Influenster Holiday VoxBox? One of the products I received was a Cherry Pie Larabar. It was one of the first things I tried. If you’ve never heard of Larabars, there are several things you need to know:
- They have 2-9 ingredients. The Cherry Pie Larabar had 3 ingredients (dates, almonds and unsweetened cherries).
- The ingredients are fruits, nuts, and spices ONLY. There are no funky preservatives or chemicals.
- They are 100% natural, certified kosher, non-GMO, vegan ingredients; no added sugar or salt; cholesterol-free, saturated fat-free and dairy-free.
- They are all around 100 calories per bar. This one had just 90 calories.
Okay, so back to the Cherry Pie Larabar I received. When I opened it, I honestly was a bit surprised. I was expecting it to look like a granola bar or something but this is what it looked like:
Yeah, not so appetizing. I forged through anyway and gave it a taste. It was actually surprisingly good for being just THREE ingredients! Unfortunately though, I don’t really like cherries. So the first taste with just nuts was good but the next one was really tart (it contains unsweetened cherries). I gave the rest of the bar to Phillip. He ate it but he wasn’t too thrilled with it either. So we weren’t big fans of the Cherry Pie flavor but I think some of the other varieties sound great. Other varieties include: Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Banana Bread. You can buy a case of 16 Larabars for around $20 on Amazon.com. I haven’t checked the in-store pricing yet but I believe they are approximately $1.50 per bar.
