If I told you that I got this PS3 for free and I didn’t win it in a contest, would you believe me? I didn’t think so. Put your skepticism aside for a few minutes and let me explain how I did it.

Hint: It involves Listia!

Have you ever heard of the website Listia? It’s an auction site that allows you to list and buy – for free. Instead of bidding with money, you bid with credits, which you earn by listing items, inviting friends, and completing offers. I personally only utilize the first two methods because I’m not a fan of the “offers” that require you to sign up for free trials and such.

I’ve been a member of Listia for a few years and I even wrote about it last year on Jersha & Dup. I’ve bought all kinds of items, from plus size clothes to baby clothes, video games and even digital cameras. Seriously, it’s a great place to find amazing deals and trade your “junk” for other items.

So how did I get a brand new Playstation 3 from Listia? First, you have to know that Listia has a “Reward Store” where they sell gift cards and physical rewards like electronics, toys, video games, and household goods. The gift cards are Amazon.com gift cards and are sent via email. The physical rewards are sent directly from retailers like Best Buy. You use your credits to buy these items, just like any other item you buy on Listia.

Secondly, you’re probably wondering what we sold to amass so many credits on Listia, right? Well, it really wasn’t that much. We sold a few Nintendo DS games, some plus size clothes, and a used Nintendo 3DS. Those items garnered enough points to afford a PS3. As soon as one popped up in the Reward Store, I jumped on and ordered it. Within 12 hours, I got a shipping confirmation and the next day, the PS3 arrived on my doorstep. Seriously, I am very impressed with Listia’s Reward Store and I can’t wait to try out our new PS3. Too bad we don’t have any games yet, but I am going to start a Gamefly trial (more info on that tomorrow).

So have YOU tried Listia? If so, tell me what you think about it! If not, why not?
