Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls bookWhen you think “naughty,” what comes to mind? Do you picture a trashy, half-dressed woman? Or do you think of a sexy, confident movie star? What about a “nice girl?” What comes to mind when you think of a “nice girl?” Raise your hand if you think that YOU are a nice girl? Yeah, me too! Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls promises to teach all of us “nice girls,” who like the “natural look” and tend to dress like shy librarians, how to become sexy and confident while also avoiding the trashy look. Dimitri James, a professional makeup artist and the creator of Skinn Cosmetics, is the author of Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls. James wrote the book after many unsuccessful attempts to get his “nice girl” friend Jill to dress a little naughtier and amp up the sex appeal.

I was given this book ย to review and let me tell you, I was a bit nervous and skeptical going in. I am a very shy and “nice girl” kind of person. I wear t-shirts and jeans EVERYWHERE, even in the summer. I hardly ever wear makeup and I have very little self-confidence.ย Yeah, I like to be a little sexy for my husband but I always feel like he likes me how I dress normally. But perhaps I was wrong?

After reading just a few pages of Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls, I was hooked. I read the entire book in about an hour. The book is relatively short but is packed with great information. James packs advice on beauty products, makeup, clothing choices for different occasions, clothing choices for different body types (a BIG plus for me since I’m a plus size girl), and even flirting into just under 150 pages. Every section has lots of great advice for “nice girls” like me. Each section is accompanied by cute illustrations to further the points made in that section. The picture to the right of this paragraph is the illustration of how to dress “naughty” for work. As you can see, the dress is professional but also sexy without being the least bit trashy. There is a lot of leg but the bottom of the skirt hits the top of the knee. Also, there is a bit of cleavage but not too much. I think if I saw a woman dressed like this, I would think she looked fantastic! Wouldn’t you feel the same way?

After reading through the book, I took a few of the tips and put them to use. Rather than put on my same old t-shirt and jeans, I put on a cute halter top with a pair of dark jeans. I also put on some makeup (gasp!) and let my hair down (double gasp!). When Phillip saw me, he said “Wow, you look amazing!” I was so excited to see that the advice in this book actually works! I honestly thought that Phillip liked my plain look with no makeup. Dimitri James actually says that a lot of men say that but they really don’t realize that a little makeup goes a long way.

There was only one thing that I didn’t really like about Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls. The author promoted his cosmetic line Skinn a bit too much for my tastes. I completely understand that he wants to promote his business and his products are rated well but I think it would have been nice to have suggestions for more affordable options as well. Even with the little mini advertisements for his cosmetic line, I still think that this book is a fantastic read for any “nice girl” out there.

Dimitri James has graciously offered a copy of Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls for us to give away. All you have to do is enter using the Rafflecopter below.

  1. I’m a nice girl and have such a hard time being ‘naughty’. I’m sure my husband would appreciate me being able to be naughty once in awhile.

  2. A lady never tells! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Seriously, I could use some help in the vavoom factor department even in my daily makeup/hair/dress. Definitely in a rut.

  3. I think I’m nice but I can be naughty in a nice way.LOL! Great review! I’d really like to read this book. Thanks for the giveaway!

  4. Sounds like a good book! I claim to be a tomboy myself but it is really because I am too self conscious to let my girly-ness out. Will have to pick it up
