Decorating the Christmas Tree Image Credit: sxc.huSo it’s December 1st and we just put up our Christmas tree. This is actually the first year since we’ve been married that I really wanted a Christmas tree. Our first Christmas, Phillip’s sister was living with us and we just had NO room in our 550 square foot apartment with 3 people. Our second Christmas, we did get a Christmas tree. It was 4 foot tall and we put it on a table so our cat wouldn’t bother it. Well, he still did and it drove me CRAZY! So we sold that tree to a friend and didn’t have one for our 3rd Christmas.

So that brings me to this year our fourth Christmas since we got married. We bought a super cute 2 foot tall tree and we went shopping for ornaments today. I LOVE small Christmas trees for 3 reasons: less work, easy to store, and you can put them up high so your pets don’t bother them. Today we went out shopping for ornaments. Hobby Lobby is having a 50% off Christmas decor sale so we went there. We bought 4 sets of small ornaments, some mini garland, a VERY cute tree topper and a gift box to use as the base. We thought we had Christmas lights but when I went to look for them, I realized I had donated them to Goodwill earlier in the year. I was so anxious to decorate the tree that we decided to skip the lights this year. I spent about an hour decorating and I am quite pleased with the results. What do you think? What kind of tree do you have?

  1. Looks great! We add bells to the bottom of our tree. It doesn’t keep the cats away, but at least we can tell when they are messing with it….. 🙂

    1. That is a great idea! We actually do have a few bells on our tree. The best man and maid of honor from our wedding put bells on the bed at our hotel room as a prank and we kept a few. We decided to put them on our tree this year.
